A Grace-Filled Day: Bishop’s Pastoral Visit Unites Faith, Leadership, and Community at EECC
On Thursday, 29th May 2025, the Emmanuel Education and Community Centre (EECC) was blessed to host a pastoral visit from His Lordship the Bishop, in celebration of the Feast of the Ascension. The day was marked by spiritual solemnity, institutional pride, and a powerful sense of unity among faith leaders, government officials, educators, and students.
The Bishop arrived at exactly 9:00 am and was warmly received by the Board of Governors, led by the Chairman. Mr. Bosco Miriti guided His Lordship in signing the Visitors’ Book—a gesture that officially opened the day’s events. At 9:20 am, the Bishop, accompanied by staff and guests, planted a commemorative tree—a symbol of life, growth, and the enduring impact of faith-based education—spearheaded by Mr. George Okumu.

Fr John Mwangi - PriestGuests were then treated to morning tea at the Library, after which all convened in the Church for the day’s central celebration: the Holy Mass marking the Ascension of the Lord. The Mass, celebrated at 10:00 am, brought together all attending priests in a spirit of co-celebration. Catechists served at the altar, and the liturgy featured deeply moving contributions: the First Reading by Rahab, the Responsorial Psalm by Sr. Monica, the Gospel Acclamation, a reflective offertory procession, and beautiful hymns including the Entrance, Holy Holy, Lamb of God, and Thanksgiving songs.
Before the final blessings, the Bishop solemnly blessed key instruments placed on a dedicated table—sanctifying the tools used in nurturing knowledge and spiritual growth at EECC.
A formal session of speeches followed, guided by the EECC Principal as the Master of Ceremonies. The Principal recognized the dedicated EECC staff, while the Education Coordinator acknowledged student leadership, with remarks from two student leaders—a male and female—representing their cohorts with grace and vision.
In a show of institutional support, several key dignitaries delivered remarks, including the Education Secretary who welcomed representatives from KCCB, CUEA, EDUKANS, and CAPSA. The Chairman of the Board of Governors recognized fellow BOG members, local leaders, the area Chief, Imam, and attending pastors, before delivering his address.
Among the esteemed guests was Commissioner Dr. Dennis Wamalwa of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR). His presence was a significant highlight, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to upholding human dignity and rights within education. Commissioner Wamalwa’s engagement with students and staff reflected the shared vision of a just, inclusive, and empowered society.

The Holy Mass concluded with final blessings and a joyful exit hymn, followed by a spirited photo session outside the Church. Guests then joined in a ceremonial cake-cutting and shared a delicious lunch—capping off a truly memorable and transformative day for EECC.
As EECC continues its mission to blend academic excellence with spiritual and moral development, the Bishop’s visit stands as a profound reminder of the power of faith, leadership, and community working together for a brighter future.
