Strategic Meeting Highlights
Successes
- Regional Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya: In a significant step towards regional collaboration, AIM successfully hosted a regional meeting in Nairobi. This event brought together stakeholders to discuss and strategize on intersex rights and advocacy.
- Fundraising for the 6th PAI Conference: Partnering with PAI, AIM secured essential funds for participation in the 6th PAI Conference. This initiative ensured a strong intersex representation and active participation in crucial discussions.
- RFSL Training in Mauritius: AIM members took part in a comprehensive training session organized by RFSL in Mauritius. This training enhanced the skills and capacities of participants, empowering them to advocate more effectively.
- Intersex Representation on the PAI Board: AIM successfully advocated for the inclusion of two intersex individuals on the PAI Board. This milestone ensures that intersex voices are represented at high-level decision-making platforms.
- Funding from AJWS: AIM secured critical funding from the American Jewish World Service (AJWS), which supports our ongoing initiatives and programs.
- 77th African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights: AIM actively participated in the 77th session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, in partnership with PAI, to promote intersex rights across Africa.
- Resolution at the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (Res 552): AIM contributed to the adoption of Resolution 552 in partnership with the Centre for Human Rights, advocating for the protection and promotion of intersex rights.
- UN Intersex Resolution (L9) at the Human Rights Council: With support from ILGA World, AIM participated in the UN Intersex Resolution (L9) at the Human Rights Council in April 2024, pushing for global recognition of intersex issues.
