In a continued effort to enhance human rights promotion, redress, and accountability, my team at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) and I had a highly productive meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Kenya, Dr. Stephen Jackson, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Country Representative, Mr. Charles Kwemoi. The meeting, held at the KNCHR Nairobi Office, reaffirmed our shared commitment to fostering a rights-compliant society.

During the engagement, we discussed critical areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening Kenya’s human rights landscape. The conversation centered on reinforcing mechanisms that ensure justice and accountability, promoting redress for human rights violations, and advancing strategic partnerships for sustainable human rights advocacy.

The UN, through its various agencies, has been instrumental in supporting Kenya’s human rights agenda. Our discussions explored how to deepen this collaboration, particularly in addressing emerging human rights concerns, strengthening policy frameworks, and ensuring that the voices of vulnerable and marginalized communities are amplified.

As KNCHR, we remain steadfast in our mission to protect and promote human rights for all. This engagement underscores the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in achieving this objective. We appreciate the continued support from the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office and OHCHR and look forward to translating our commitments into impactful actions that uphold the dignity and rights of all individuals in Kenya.

Together, we forge ahead in creating a more just, accountable, and rights-centered society.
