On 26th August 2025, Commissioner Dr. Wamalwa Dennis convened a follow-up meeting at CVS Plaza alongside Tara Ndichu and Advocate Ojiambo to deliberate on the next steps towards establishing a dedicated Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) focused on intersex rights in Kenya. This meeting builds on the earlier stakeholders’ session of 22nd August 2025, which underscored the urgent need for an institutional platform to advance intersex advocacy, resource mobilization, and structured support.
The discussions highlighted the legal and procedural requirements for NGO registration, with Advocate Ojiambo guiding the team through compliance considerations, governance structures, and operational frameworks necessary for a sustainable entity. The meeting reaffirmed that the proposed NGO will serve as a central platform for amplifying intersex voices, coordinating advocacy efforts, and engaging policymakers and communities in addressing the challenges of stigma, exclusion, and lack of legislative recognition.

Commissioner Dr. Wamalwa emphasized that the establishment of an intersex-focused NGO marks a strategic milestone in ensuring that advocacy is not only deliberate but also institutionalized to drive long-term change. He reiterated his commitment to walking alongside stakeholders through the registration and operationalization process while continuing to push for legislative engagement on the Intersex Persons Bill with the Office of the Attorney General.
The meeting concluded with clear action points, including refining the NGO’s draft constitution, mapping out potential partners and resource avenues, and scheduling subsequent sessions to finalize documentation and formal registration.
As Kenya continues to make progress in recognizing and protecting the rights of intersex persons, the establishment of a dedicated NGO will play a critical role in consolidating efforts, ensuring visibility, and anchoring advocacy in a structured and sustainable manner.
